How can Centella Asiatica improve your skin?

How can Centella Asiatica improve your skin?

Centella Asiatica is a treasure of beauty. Here is why and how it improves your skin.

What is Centella Asiatica?

Centella Asiatica, also known as tiger grass, is a muddy plant native to Asia, particularly to China and India, but it is also found in Australia and Madagascar. In cosmetics, it is mainly the leaves and stems that are used.

A pillar of Ayurvedic medicine, its medicinal properties have been recognized for 2000 years. This plant was mostly used to treat burns, wounds and skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.

What are the benefits of Centella Asiatica in cosmetics?

The properties of Centella Asiatica are directly linked to its two main constituents: saponosides (madecassoside, asiaticoside) and triterpenes (asiatic acid, madecassic acid).

Anti-aging properties

The saponins and triterpenes present in the cells of Centella Asiatica act on the systems responsible for collagen production leading to its synthesis. Therefore, this action increases collagen production in skin cells and its quality is enhanced. In fact, collagen is one of the most important proteins of the skin as it provides it with resistance and elasticity. With age, the concentration of collagen in the tissues decreases, inducing skin aging, resulting in the appearance of wrinkles, slackening of the skin, loss of elasticity, and more.

On the other hand, thanks to the phenolic compounds present in the leaves, roots and petioles of the plant, it also has an antioxidant action. So, it helps fight free radicals (sun, pollution, stress, etc.) that oxidize our cells and triggers the aging process.

✨ A powerful healing and restorative action

Centella Asiatica is also used in cosmetics for its restorative and healing properties. Tiger grass is therefore recommended to treat skin problems, and works extremely well on acne scars.

✨ Improves blood microcirculation

Centella Asiatica is also renowned for its stimulating action on blood microcirculation. It is therefore interesting for irritated, blotchy and dull skin.

✨ Powerful moisturizing action

Thanks to its sugar composition, which has a great affinity with water, Centella Asiatica increases skin hydration. It is therefore efficient on dehydrated and dry skin.

What skin types benefit most from Centella Asiatica?

✔️ Delicate skins
✔️ Problematic skins: skin with imperfections, irritations, and blotchiness
✔️ Mature skins
✔️ Sensitive and tired skins
✔️ Dull complexion skins

In which helwé products is there Centella Asiatica?

masque helwé

The Masque Éternel and Crème Éternelle both contain Centella Asiatica.

The Masque Éternel contains Centella Asiatica powder, hyaluronic acid, essential oils of geranium, chamomile, Italian helichrysum hydrosol, and calendula macerate, all of which lend to this mask regenerating, anti-aging and soothing properties.

The Masque Éternel has many benefits:

  • It moisturizes and soothes dry and damaged skin, tightens pores and diminishes acne scars.
  • It regenerates dull and damaged skin.
  • It stimulates microcirculation and improves blotchy-prone skin.

You can use it several times a week for a more effective effect.

The Crème Éternelle is a combination of two plants originating from Asia: Centella Asiatica, a powerful regenerator, and kombu brown algae, the extract of which has an anti-aging effect, and is well-known for its protective and invigorating properties. The two plants stimulate collagen synthesis, which makes the skin firm and vigorous. In addition, combining these two plants with the elastin booster (calcium 2-ketogluconate), hyaluronic acid and silicium optimize the lifting and “plumping” effect on the skin.

Thanks to vitamin B5, hyaluronic acid and Aloe vera, the Crème Éternelle also soothes and hydrates the skin.
