Dull Complexion Causes
A dull and tired complexion can be caused by many factors such as lack of sleep, cold temperatures, unbalanced diet, stress or hormonal imbalance. More specifically, it is the quality of your skin that is altered because of dead cells and impurities, which accumulate over time.
Blotchy skin (or Hyperpigmentation) Causes
Excessive sun exposure is the main cause of hyperpigmentation. Furthermore, melanin production is a defense mechanism against sun rays. It should also be noted that, during sun exposure, a number of perfumes and medications can cause the appearance of brown spots.
In dark-haired (dark-skinned) women, hormonal changes can cause brown blotches called “melasma” to appear on the face. They are also known as "masks of pregnancy ".
How To Treat Dull, Blotchy Skin
- Get at least 7 hours of sleep per night.
- Drink lots of water. Start your day with a glass of hot water and lemon slices.
- Avoid excess sugar.
- Protect yourself from the sun to avoid the appearance and exacerbation of pigmented spots.
Choose your sun protection wisely. Your sun protection factor (SPF) should be at least 20 (or 30 if you have fair skin). - For helwé’s layering method (double cleansing, exfoliation with fruit acid in addition to natural and alcohol-free skin care products) follow the dull skin routine.
- Antioxidants (vitamin C, Resveratrol, coenzyme q10...)
Vitamin C, Resveratrol, Vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 are well-known antioxidants. Therefore, they are essential to your skin care routine. Their role is to fight oxidation of the body (in particular the skin) cells responsible for its aging.

These molecules present in the body are the cause of cell deterioration. In small quantities, they are not harmful and their action results from the natural and inevitable aging of the organism. However, they are multiplied by the external aggressions that we undergo on a daily basis such as pollution, ultra-violet rays, etc.
Thanks to their antioxidant role, vitamin C, Resveratrol, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 will stop the action of free radicals and thus prevent the phenomenon of cell oxidation. They will promote cell resistance and thus lengthen their lifespan. Thus, just like a daily rejuvenating cure, they will participate in the longevity of all cells, including skin cells.

In the evening, remove your makeup with our oil based makeup remover to easily dissolve all the day’s impurities. The Prodige Démaquillant Hydratant (Hydrating Make-up Remover) contains 5 high quality, non-comedogenic vegetable oils.
Apply the make-up remover oil to your face, neck and bust, then massage them so they can better absorb the oil. Soak a cotton pad in water and wipe your face, neck and bust with it four times to remove the makeup, re-soaking the cotton pad each time.
Then spray the Brume Revitalisante mist on your face. The Revitalizing Mist is a combination of Aloe Vera juice and pure geranium rosat, cistus ladanifer, Helichrysum italicum and English lavender floral waters.
Morning
In the morning, use the Prodige Démaquillant Hydratant (Hydrating Make-up Remover) to hydrate and regenerate your skin. Apply the hydrating makeup remover all over the face, neck and bust area, then massage until well absorbed. Thanks to the 5 vegetable oils it contains, the Hydrating Makeup Remover has a moisturizing and a soothing effect on the skin. This is why we advise you to keep it on your skin as long as possible before removing it with the disc.
Then spray the Brume Revitalisante (Revitalizing Mist). In one single move, your skin will be well hydrated throughout the day. It has invigorating, astringent and anti-aging effects thanks to the properties of the hydrosols used.
Gentle Exfoliation
Night
Apply the exfoliating lotion that is appropriate for your skin. If your skin is dry and sensitive, use the soft skin exfoliating solution, and if your skin is oily use the perfect skin exfoliating lotion. These solutions are very gentle on the skin, and brighten complexion and spots without irritation.
Morning
You can exfoliate using exfoliating lotions for soft skin or perfect skin, up to 3 times a week for those who feel that their skin is very dull. But beware of sun exposure. Make sure to always use sunscreen after your skin care.
Care

Sérum Radieux (Radiant Serum) or Sérum Éclat (Radiance Serum) are vitamin C based serums which will boost your skin’s glow. (You can choose according to your preference). The Radiance Serum is liposoluble and might be more suitable for sensitive skin, but both are appropriate for all skin types.
